Handle With Care

Handle With Care

We know that you can't wait to tuck into your Château Gâteaux cake when you get home with it from one of our stores. Or maybe you were gifted one (lucky you), delivered in its beautiful razzberry box. Either way, you may not have read the instructions on how to care for and defrost your cake – because your mouth is watering, and you urgently need a slice with your cuppa. Here are a few guidelines …

Handling Instructions

Our unique freezing process seals in the freshness of all our cakes. Defrost your delicious creation whenever you want it within a twelve-month period. How cool is that? It means you can be super organised for any occasion knowing you have a Swiss Carrot Cake, a Red Velvet Baked Cheesecake or any of our other collectable cakes hidden away in the freezer.

Defrost a whole cake overnight in the fridge in its original packaging or at room temperature removed from the packaging. If your family and friends haven't gobbled up the entire cake in one sitting, keep the rest in the fridge and finish it off within three days – but we doubt there will be any left! Another idea is to cut your frozen cake into slices and simply defrost a slice or two as required. All you need is twenty mins per slice, just the right amount of time to set the tray and get coffee on the go before your bestie arrives. Of course, if you have ordered a 4 Cake Variety Pack (soft and nutty Mozart, chocolaty Chocolate Nostalgia, moist and creamy Vanilla Dream and decadent Southern Red Velvet), we've done the slicing for you! Don't forget to return the remainder of your cake to the freezer to keep that freshness locked in for when the craving next hits!

Château Gâteaux's delectable Mini Frozen Desserts and Tarts feature our more than delicious Belgica Caramel Tart, Cape Malva Pudding, Double Decker, Cookies & Cream and other delights that require slightly different treatment. While still frozen, remove these delicious little numbers from their packaging and arrange them on a beautiful platter, retaining the plastic collar (where applicable) to protect while handling. Defrost in the fridge overnight or at room temp for twenty mins. Remove the plastic collar just before serving. Your guests will be super impressed with the homemade look and taste of what you have treated them with for dessert. If there are any leftovers, don't refreeze, but store them in the fridge for no longer than three days to keep them moist.

Who doesn't love a hot, melty pudding, especially now that the weather is cooling down? Try our Hot Mud Pudding or Chocolate Volcano for a melt in the mouth moment. Remove the pudding from the paper or foil cup by carefully lifting the edge of the cup and tearing it off the pudding. Microwave for approximately 30 - 40 seconds until the dessert is soft and the decadent sauce has melted onto the plate. YUM. TOP TIP - Heat Volcano puddings until the soft centres ooze through the surface – talk about yumminess! For the best experience – do not overheat.

Just a note on cake-aways. Please don't freeze them if you take home mini desserts or slices from our display chillers. Instead, store them covered in the fridge and enjoy your goodies within twenty-four hours.

Well, cakeholic, we hope we've helped you make the most and best of our delicious cakes, tarts, puddings and more. All you need to do now is stock up your freezer!
