Our Magic Mini Collection

Our Magic Mini Collection

This week, we’re tasting some of our favourite things from Château Gâteaux ‘s Mini Collection. This chapter has something for everyone tied up in mouthwatering mini rounds and rectangles, squares, circles and ovals, and some are in dinky little pie cases.

As you know, a miniature is a small version compared to the standard size of the same thing. There is absolutely nothing small about the rich flavour of our mini Chocolate Volcano dessert with its molten centre baked to perfection. This self-saucing dessert packs a huge punch as each little eruption contains half a slab of chocolate … I mean yummm! You can order a six-pack of these delicious desserts from our online store and, while you are at it, include one of our other mini creations – we know you want to! You can simply pop the ‘razzberry’ box into your freezer for the next me-moment or teatime gathering. Think Mississippi Mud Pie, Strawberry Cheesecake or our creamy, scrumptious New York Baked Cheesecake. Or, collect them all!!!

The most famous mini to reflect on is the mini skirt. The mini has celebrated its 50th birthday already, having been born in 1963! Like a book, this small item of clothing tells the story of women’s emancipation and how aesthetic tastes and social values changed over time. British fashion designer, Mary Quant, recognised the genuine desire for change, the claim for rights and the need for practical women’s clothing, and with her first mini skirt, English street-style came into being. The first minis were colourful and geometrically squared. (PS: Our silky-smooth Boston Brownie tumbled with raspberries fits that description perfectly, don’t you think?) Comfort, simplicity and freedom of movement was the aim of mini skirts for the working woman back then, but today the mini skirt has a very different value. Made from a variety of trendy fabrics, the attitude with which you wear your mini creates its style!! Go girl, go.

Apple Crumble

A firm favourite of ours from our mini collection is our Apple Crumble Tart. Always a crowd-pleaser, it is a fusion of Granny Smith apples, raisins, crumbed biscuits and French custard – tangy and sweet and smooth in one more-ish mouthful. This mini is only available in store cake lover, so make sure you swing past one of our many outlets to get your cake fix! Another miniature crowd-pleaser of the 1960s was the Mini-Minor motor car. Designed as an affordable family car in response to the 1956 oil crisis, which resulted in petrol rationing in Britain. The market for ‘bubble’ cars boomed, and the Mini was visionary in that it was the first car built with front-wheel-drive, was small in overall size and had maximum space for passengers and luggage. It is a pity there was no Château Gâteaux in those days. There would have been plenty of room to pack in a picnic, including a selection of mini cakes for dessert - Fudge Picasso, Cookies & Cream, Belgica Caramel Tart, Salted Caramel Cheesecake, Double Decker and more. Pop-out to any of our conveniently located stores to get these treats for your next fun friend picnic.

Cake-Away Note:  Should you take home individual desserts from our display chillers, please don’t freeze them. Instead, store them covered in the fridge and enjoy them within 24 hours. Buying a frozen mini-6-pack? Store in freezer for when the craving hits.

Enjoy huge flavour with every bite of a mini from Château Gâteaux.
