Château Gâteaux Win a Trip to Paris 2026 – Terms and Conditions

1. Promoter and Competition Overview

1.1. This promotional competition (“Competition”) is run by Château Gâteaux South Africa (Pty) Ltd, registration number 1999/014744/07, with its registered office at 1 Imvubupark Close, Riverhorse Valley Business Estate, Effingham, Durban, South Africa (“the Promoter”). 1.2. By entering the Competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, which are available on the Château Gâteaux competitions page at: chateaugateaux.co.za/terms-conditions. These Terms and Conditions will be interpreted by the Promoter whose decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding. 1.3. The Competition will run from 23 September 2026 to midnight 26 November 2026, inclusive. Entries received after the closing date will not be considered.

2. Eligibility

2.1. The Competition is open to legal residents of South Africa, aged 18 years or older at the time of entry. 2.2. The following persons are excluded from entering:
  • Employees, directors, agents, agencies, employees of affiliated/group companies involved in the competition and consultants of the Promoter and their immediate family members.

3. How to Enter

A. Purchase-Based Entry 3.1. Buy any participating Large, Medium or Small Château Gâteaux Whole Cake product(s) from any Château Gâteaux Patisserie during the Competition period. 3.2. Download and scan the Château Gâteaux Loyalty App in-store when purchasing eligible products for automatic entry. 3.3. One entry will be awarded per qualifying transaction, regardless of the number of cakes purchased in that transaction. B. Bonus Social Media Entry 3.4. Participants may earn one additional entry by following Château Gâteaux on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok and posting an original video of themselves with their Château Gâteaux Whole Cake saying “Take me to Paris, Château Gâteaux!” and tagging the official Château Gâteaux social media account. 3.5. The social media entry must be posted during the Competition Period and the participant’s social media profile must be public for the entry to be verified. Each participant may submit a maximum of one Bonus Social Media Entry during the Competition Period.

4. Prizes

A. Paris Trip Winner 4.1. The winner will receive the grand prize of a trip for two to Paris worth R100 000 (One hundred thousand Rand). The trip will be planned and coordinated with the winner and a 3rd party travel partner. 4.2. For travel prizes:
  • The winner and travel companion are responsible for ensuring that they hold valid travel documents and meet all applicable entry, passport and visa requirements for France and any transit countries.
  • The prize excludes costs such as visa applications, travel insurance, or any personal expenses.
4.3. If the stated prize is unavailable, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute it with a prize of equal value, subject to availability and applicable regulations. The 3rd party travel partner will consult with the winner before finalising the replacement. 4.4. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be converted to cash. B. Cake of the Week 4.5. Over the duration of the campaign, each week, one winner will be selected from eligible participants who completed a qualifying transaction during the preceding seven-day period. The winner will receive one large whole cake voucher, limited to the featured Cake of the Week. 4.6. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be converted to cash. 4.7. The prize is only available via the Château Gâteaux Loyalty App. 4.8. The Cake of the Week voucher will only be valid for 30 days from date of issue.

5. Winner Selection and Notification

A. Paris Trip Winner 5.1. Winners will be chosen via a random draw conducted under the supervision of an independent accountant, registered auditor, attorney or advocate, in accordance with applicable legislation, on 30 November 2026. 5.2. Winners will be notified via the email address and phone number used to register for the Château Gâteaux Loyalty App and must respond within 72 hours of either attempt. 5.3. Winners may be required to provide:
  • Valid identification.
  • Proof of purchase (if required).
  • A signed release form and consent to publish their name for publicity purposes.
5.4. If a winner fails to meet the requirements or cannot be reached after three call attempts and an email after the 72 hours, the Promoter reserves the right to replace them with an alternative Participant. B. Cake of the Week 5.5. Winners will be chosen via a random draw. The first draw will take place on Thursday, 1 October 2026 and will include qualifying transactions made from 23 September 2026 to 30 September 2026. Thereafter, draws will take place each Thursday for the duration of the campaign. 5.6. Winners will be notified via email and the Château Gâteaux Loyalty App that a large cake voucher has been loaded onto their Château Gâteaux Loyalty App.

6. Disqualification and Invalid Entries

6.1. Entries will be disqualified if:
  • Submitted after the closing date.
  • The entrant has not complied with these Terms and Conditions.
  • The purchase receipt or code is invalid, illegible, or tampered with.
  • The entry was generated by automated means or bots.

7. Limitation of Liability

7.1. The Promoter will not be responsible for:
  • Any loss or damage suffered by the entrant due to technical failures, network issues, or system errors.
  • Any delay or failure to deliver the prize resulting from incorrect contact details supplied by the entrant.

8. Personal Data and Privacy

8.1. The Promoter will collect and process participants’ personal information for purposes of administering and conducting the Competition, including verifying eligibility, managing entries, selecting and contacting winners, and fulfilling the prizes. Personal information will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”) and the Promoter’s applicable privacy policy. 8.2. The Promoter may process personal information including, where applicable, the participant’s name, contact details, loyalty app details, proof of purchase and other information reasonably required to administer the Competition and fulfil the prizes. 8.3. Where reasonably necessary to administer the Competition or fulfil a prize, the Promoter may share relevant personal information with third-party service providers and prize partners, including travel, accommodation, rewards and other suppliers involved in delivering the prize. Such parties will only receive the information reasonably required for these purposes and will be required to process personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws. 8.4. Personal information collected for the purposes of this Competition will not be used for direct marketing purposes unless the participant has provided the required consent or the Promoter is otherwise permitted to do so in terms of applicable law. Participation in the Competition does not, in itself, constitute consent to receive direct marketing communications. 8.5. Participants may contact the Promoter to request access to or correction of their personal information and may exercise any other applicable rights in terms of POPIA, subject to the Promoter’s legal and regulatory obligations, including any applicable record-retention requirements. 8.6. Personal information relating to the Competition will be retained for a period of three (3) years after the Competition ends for audit, record-keeping and regulatory purposes, unless a longer or shorter retention period is required or permitted by applicable law. 8.7. The Winner or Participants may be requested to take part in publicity relating to the Competition for broadcast or publishing purposes. Participation in such publicity is voluntary, and participants have the right to expressly decline such a request. Should a participant agree to take part in any such publicity, they will not be entitled to any payment or other remuneration for their participation. All publicity and related materials produced by or on behalf of the Promoter will remain the property of Château Gâteaux, subject to applicable law.

9. Social Media and Platform Disclaimers

9.1. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok. By entering, participants release these platforms from any liability arising from the Competition.

10. General

10.1. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or cancel the Competition at any time, provided that such changes are not made unfairly or retroactively. Any material amendment will be communicated through the same channels used to advertise the Competition and will be made available on the Competition webpage. 10.2. All decisions made by the Promoter regarding this Competition are final and binding. 10.3. The laws of South Africa apply to this Competition, and participants agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
